Help CORA build a community without hunger!

Posted on: May 28, 2021

Over the past year, CORA has experienced first-hand how a community can come together to selflessly and generously help those facing hunger and food insecurity. The experience, while challenging, has been a shining example of how we can better support one another, adapt to change,  and remain resilient.

With many families facing uncertainty due to COVID-19, the demand for our services has increased. By the end of June, we anticipate that we will distribute over 1.9 million meals, thus fulfilling each and every request for assistance. This is 46% percent more meals than last year. We currently provide groceries curbside at the pantry and through our two Mobile Markets each month. We are distributing pre-packed bags of shelf-stable food and supplementing these staples with fresh produce, bakery items, milk, and eggs. We are looking forward to post-pandemic CORA when we can open our doors once more and provide additional choices to our families.

This year, thanks to overwhelming support from our community, our new building is finally under construction. The new 2,800 square foot building will sit adjacent to the existing Pantry and will serve as both a food storage warehouse and pantry. This new space will allow us to streamline operations and more effectively provide healthy food to those facing hunger.

Not only are we excited about the new building, we are also looking forward to repurposing the existing building. We envision a welcoming community space that brings people together to grow, cook, share, and advocate for healthy food. It will include meeting, educational, and food preparation space, all of which will help CORA provide stability, food security, and well-being for the families that we serve.

Thankfully, donors like you are at the heart of our caring community and we need your continued support to help all our neighbors who depend upon our services. Your gift, whether it is $50, $100, $250, or even $1,000, will help provide the resources necessary to help us build a community without hunger. Please join us by making a generous gift today!

Thank you for your dedication and commitment to helping those facing hunger in Chatham County.
