CORA Hosts Volunteer Appreciation Event

CORA hosted a Volunteer Appreciation event on March 24th to honor our very committed and caring group of people who volunteer their time and energy to help folks in Chatham County who are food insecure. Volunteers are, without a doubt, critical to the work we do at CORA. Volunteers have a variety of jobs in our organization, from sorting donated food to assembling produce bags, checking in families, organizing food drives, and assisting with food distribution. We spent the afternoon enjoying food, beverages, good company, and laughs. Many volunteers also received a behind-the-scenes tour of the new building by Executive Director, Melissa Driver Beard.

We could never have imagined the challenges of the last two years. The demand in our community has grown, and we served nearly 1.2 million meals last year alone. That statistic alone demonstrates that we could not perform what we do without the help of volunteers. The kindness and compassion shown at the pantry on a daily basis is a reflection of our wonderful volunteers’ character. Thank you so much for everything you do…we are incredibly blessed to have you in our lives and appreciate everything you do.
