Other Ways to Provide Support

Support comes from many different directions and causes, here are other ways to help CORA continue towards completing its mission. Please mail all donations to CORA, PO Box 1326, Pittsboro, NC 27312 or you can call us at 919-542-5020 x2.

If you are making your donation on line, click the “This is a tribute gift” box and fill out the requested information. Acknowledgements do not specify the amount of your gift.

Honorarium

If you are mailing in a donation, please include a note with the name and address of the person being recognized. If you are making your donation on line, click the “This is a tribute gift” box and fill out the requested information. Acknowledgments do not specify the amount of your gift.

Stocks and Securities

How It Works

  • You transfer appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares you have owned for more than one year to CORA.
  • CORA sells your securities and uses the proceeds for our programs.
  • CORA accepts gifts of stocks and securities through Blake Stewart at Edward Jones. For information on how to make a gift, please call Blake at 919-542-3020.

Benefits

  • You receive an immediate income tax deduction for the fair market value of the securities on the date of transfer (even if you originally paid much less for them).
  • You pay no capital gains tax on the transfer when the stock is sold.
  • Giving appreciated stock can be more beneficial than giving cash. The “cost” of your gift is often less than the deduction you gain by making it.

Donor Advised Fund

A donor-advised fund, or DAF, is a charitable giving program that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to easily support your favorite charities. You can give cash, stock, or other assets and take advantage of a tax deduction. An increasingly popular charitable vehicle, DAFs are an excellent way to both simplify your charitable giving and facilitate your strategic philanthropic goals.

United Way

If your workplace has an annual United Way Campaign, you can specify that your gift supports CORA. For more information, visit www.unitedwayofchathamcounty.org.

State Employees Combined Campaign

The SECC is the only workplace giving program authorized for payroll deduction for most state employees. CORA is listed under Chatham OutReach Alliance (code 3754). To find out more, please visit http://www.ncsecc.org/.

Matching Gifts

Double, or even triple, your gift to CORA by having your employer match your donation! Thousands of companies offer to match their employee’s charitable contributions.  Your company’s Personnel Department can give you more information about their program and should have the proper forms to complete.
