CORA’s fiscal year 2023-2024 has just drawn to a close, and we would like to take this opportunity to share our reflections on the year in our 2024 Annual Report. The report provides a comprehensive overview of our efforts over the past year, showcasing both the growing need for our services and the incredible community support that has enabled us to meet the demand.
The 2024 Annual Report paints a stark picture of the past year, revealing a significant 40% increase in the number of individuals and families turning to CORA for food assistance. This surge in demand, driven by economic pressures and other challenges, underscores the urgent and ongoing food insecurity crisis in our community. It’s a clear call to action, highlighting the crucial role of CORA in ensuring that no one goes hungry.
“We are deeply committed to serving our community and ensuring that everyone has access to nutritious food,” said Melissa Driver Beard, CORA’s Executive Director. “The increase in need this past year has been challenging, but it also reaffirms CORA’s vital role in Chatham County. We are incredibly grateful to our supporters, whose generosity and dedication have enabled us to respond to this growing need.”
The 2024 Annual Report also shines a light on the incredible impact of community support. From individual donors and volunteers to corporate partners and local organizations, the collective effort to combat food insecurity has been truly inspiring. This support has enabled us to distribute 1.8 million meals, serve 12,995 individuals, and enhance programs to expand their reach and impact. It’s a testament to what we can achieve when we come together.
“We couldn’t do this work without the unwavering support of our community,” added Rebecca Hankins, CORA’s Development and Communications Director. Every donation, volunteer hour, and word of encouragement helps us continue our mission. We are profoundly grateful to everyone who has stood by us this year and helped us make a difference in the lives of so many.”
As we look ahead, CORA remains committed to our vision of a community without hunger. The 2024 Annual Report reflects on the past year’s challenges and successes and sets the stage for future growth and innovation as we continue to address food insecurity across Chatham County.
