Did you know that approximately 14% of the population in Chatham County live at or below the poverty level ($24,600/year for a family of four)?
CORA operates under USDA Food and Nutrition Services Eligibility Guidelines, thus meeting food insecurity needs for families making $49,200/year for a family of four. These guidelines allow us to serve more people and better meet our mission.
In 2019, CORA will serve 12,700 individuals and provided more than 975,000 meals across Chatham County. In the past year, CORA has seen a 25% increase in the number of individuals seeking food assistance. Due to the intensification (or growth or escalation) in demand each year, CORA is working more diligently than ever to ensure that our programs run effectively and efficiently.
Although CORA serves nearly 13,000 individuals a year, there are many more people facing food insecurity in Chatham County. Please help us reach every individual and family facing hunger by making a donation today.
