Pantry Assistant / Driver
CORA (Chatham Outreach Alliance), a non-profit organization dedicated to combating food insecurity in Chatham County, is seeking a Pantry Assistant / Driver to support operations at our Pittsboro and Siler City locations. This role involves managing food inventory, assisting with pantry operations, ensuring food safety, and driving CORA vehicles for food deliveries and pick-ups (no CDL required).
Key Responsibilities include receiving and tracking food donations and inventory, distributing food, ensuring food safety and compliance, and collaborating with volunteers, donors, and clients to foster a positive environment. This role will also involve driving one of CORA’s box trucks from time to time. No CDL is required.
Proficiency in Spanish is required. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Siler City and western Chatham County communities, possess strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills, have the ability to lift 50 lbs., and work in a fast-paced environment. A high school diploma along with previous warehouse, food service, and/or retail experience is preferred. The ability to operate warehouse equipment (forklift, stacker, pallet jack) is a plus. CORA offers excellent benefits. The hiring range for this position will start at $19.23/hr – $21.15/hr.

Internships
SNACK! (Summer Nutrition Assistance for Chatham Kids) Internship
About the Position
SNACK! provides boxes of food to children facing food insecurity during the summer school holiday. In 2023, the program delivered more than 190,000 meals to 1,312 children in Chatham County.
The SNACK! intern will assist with all aspects of program administration, including participant registration, coordinating distribution sites, planning menus, and conducting community outreach.
While much of the work can be done remotely, interns should expect regular travel throughout Chatham County during distribution weeks (every two weeks from early June through early August). On non-distribution weeks, interns will meet in the office at times for planning and assisting with other tasks. There will also be opportunities to support additional projects at CORA, based on organizational needs and the intern’s interests.
We’re ideally looking for someone who can begin part-time (mostly remote) in early April to support planning efforts during the spring semester.
Qualifications
- Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Spanish language proficiency is strongly preferred
