A Place of Hope and Comfort for Many in our Community

Melissa Driver Beard

Executive Director 919-545-3030

Melissa wears many hats, but her primary responsibly is to carry out the strategic plans and policies as established by the CORA’s Board of Directors.

“Working at CORA means so much to me because I know that CORA helps others when they need it most. I enjoy being part of an organization - the staff, board members, and volunteers - that prioritizes CORA's mission to create a community without hunger and does what it takes to make that a reality.”

Rebecca Hankins

Development & Communications Director 919-491-5896

Rebecca is responsible for increasing revenue so that CORA can fulfill its mission and shares that message with the community.

“Getting to work with, and interact with, so many amazing people is a blessing. CORA is a beacon of infinite compassion in our community and I am excited to see what is yet to come.”

Natalie Stewart

Director of Operations 919-542-5020

Natalie’s role includes oversight for Pantry, Programs, and Community Partner Outreach.

“It has been said, ‘Food disparity is the greatest solvable US issue’. I’m at CORA because I believe it, and want to be part of this large family of committed, caring people doing something about it.”

Peggy Overton

Data Manager

Peggy manages our donor database and ensures its quality, consistency, and accuracy.

“I love working at CORA because each and every person associated with CORA cares.”

Travus Viera

Transportation & Warehouse Specialist

Working in the field, Travus serves as a primary point of contact with grocery stores, PORCH neighborhoods, and other community partners.

“Working at CORA is great. Every week is different and the people I meet are nice. I started as a volunteer and I am now happy to be part of the staff.”

Liz Gonzales

Administrative & Customer Service Coordinator

As the front lines of CORA, Liz provides family support and ensures the Pantry runs with proficiency and compassion.

“I love working with all the families and giving them reassurance that they will not have to worry about their next meal. I also enjoy working side by side with such great volunteers and co-workers who take time out of their day to help families in need.”

Isabella DeSantis

Volunteer Coordinator 919-542-5020

Isabella recruits and manages volunteers who give their time and talents to CORA.

"I am so excited to be part of CORA's wonderful mission, and to work with our volunteers who donate their time, talents, and passion for the families and community we serve!"

Catherine Machanic

SNACK! Coordinator 919-542-5020

Catherine works with all things SNACK!, our summer nutritional program for children. She coordinates with all involved parties to make sure children in our community are not hungry over the summer.

"I am excited to be working on the SNACK! Program this year to bring food to children across Chatham County and help make summer vacation great!"
