As we reach the midpoint of fiscal year 2026, we are deeply grateful for the community support that continues to make CORA’s work possible as more neighbors across Chatham County struggle to put food on the table.
In the first six months of the year, we have seen an increase in the need for CORA’s programs. This growth reflects both the impact of our expansion in Siler City and the continued financial strain many households are facing. Because of your generosity, we have been able to meet this moment and distribute more food while still maintaining care for the quality of our food and the dignity of our neighbors.
Looking ahead, the food security landscape remains uncertain. Changes to SNAP benefits, rising health care costs, and persistently high prices for everyday goods, along with upcoming decisions on SNAP cost sharing in North Carolina, are placing additional strain on households already struggling to make ends meet. At CORA, this pressure is evident in the growing number of first-time visitors and the increasing frequency of pantry visits among working families and seniors.
Through all of this, your support allows CORA to remain steady and responsive. Because of you, we will continue to adapt and grow so that neighbors can count on consistent access to food and do not have to choose between groceries and other essentials.
Make the Next Six Months Even Stronger!
Every cart-load of groceries that leaves our doors and fills a neighbor’s kitchen is made possible by someone like you. CORA runs on neighbors helping neighbors as we work to make our community a place without hunger.
