Spring Into Service: Host a Food Drive for CORA

Spring is here, and so is one of the easiest ways your group can make a real difference for neighbors in Chatham County. Whether you’re part of a church, a civic club, a neighborhood association, or a workplace team, hosting a food drive for CORA is a meaningful service project that fits any schedule and any size group.

Why a Food Drive?

Every week, CORA serves hundreds of families through our Pittsboro and Siler City pantries, our Mobile Markets, and programs like CORApacks and SNACK. Our pantries are busy year-round, and spring is no exception. As we head into summer, we’re working to build up our stock so we can meet the surge in need that comes when school’s out. Getting ahead of that now makes a real difference.

What We Need Most This Spring

  • Canned Chicken
  • Cereal
  • Oatmeal
  • Syrup
  • Pasta Sauce
  • Soup
  • Dry Bean
  • Canned Fruit
  • Masa
  • Cooking Oil

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Please check expiration dates. We can only distribute items that are safe to eat.
  • Shelf-stable items only. No perishables, please.
  • Still in original packaging is always best.

How to Get Started

It’s simple. Download our printable flyer, share it with your group, set up a collection box, and drop donations at either of our pantry locations. You can also reach out to us if you’d like to coordinate pickup.

Every Can, Box, and Bag Counts

No drive is too small. Whether you collect 20 items or 200, you’re helping a family in our community put food on the table. And if your group wants to make it a friendly competition or a multi-week campaign, we’d love to cheer you on.

Questions? Reach us at [email protected]. We’re grateful for every community partner who helps us build a Chatham County without hunger.
